My life began just like any other person's. I had a large house in Yew. My father had a steadfast job- he was a lumberjack. My mother was a seamstress, the finest in the land. She wove cloth quickly and swiftly, flawlessly. My father could level a tree in a fourth the time a normal man could. I had a brother, who seemed to like to put things together and take them apart. His interest in this, I figured, would make him a fine tinker.
Unlike most other people's lives, my wealthy family was disrespected by many a faction, My parents were well-known for helping nobles, but not the commoners. It was at this point, when I became aware of the world around me in reality, I had to be 12 or 13, that I began to secretly train myself to fight. Nobody approved of it, so I couldn't tell anyone.
Like I suspected, there was reason to be cautious. When I was 16, a passing tribe of orcs ruined the farms, and the commoners blamed my family for the bad fortune. While my father was whacking away at trees, miles away from home, and my mother and brother inside, I was hacking and slashing the dummy in my tree fort. I peered out the window and saw flames in the hills. Calling my mother and brother to readiness, I snatched my sword and knife from the table. I grabbed a candle, and my diary. I would be out for a while.
My mother picked up my brother and fled into the woods, in my father's direction. Surely he could help, swinging the heaviest axe like it was nothing. I was left alone, in the tree, ready for the upcoming fight. My eyes scanned the hills. The fires were getting brighter and brighter. Time was running out.
Swiftly, i scuttled down the tree and under a pile of leaves and dead grass. I watched in horror as the peasants burned my house down. My fury was growing steadily, but what could I do? The peasants outnumbered me five to one. I started to crawl away, to seek help. A bearded man turned and saw my movement. Screaming like an animal, he charged into the woods after me. The others turned and followed.
I had no choice, but to run or fight. My brashness got the best of me, and I raised my sword in readiness. The attacker dove in, head on. A mistake, I had learned, but apparently he hadn't. He swung his mace, but I easily dodged, cutting his arm off in the process. He didn't need to die, I just needed to live. I fled to the woods. I knew these woods all too well, and escaped the others easily.
I ran and ran, until i got to parts of the forest i didn't recognize. I saw a glow in the distance. Obviously, I wandered towards it. It turned out to be a portal to other places. I stepped in, and felt dizzy and isconnected. Then I was in a sparsely packed forest, with a fenced area in the distance. I went to explore. As i came nearer, a figure in black armor with a green cape was hacking and slashing away at what seemed to be skeletons. My father had spoken of these on his long logging trips in the forests. They didn't seem to fight all that well, so I decided to help out. The next few minutes would change my life forever. As i stepped in, and slew a raving corpse, the armored one approached me. "Hail," she spoke.
"Uhh, hail," I replied, nervously.
"You seem like a fine fighter," the figure said."Fairly skilled."
"Fairly?!" I retorted,"I've been training for so long, over four years, and im FAIRLY skilled?"
She laughed, and said,"I like you, kid, how about you join my guild?"
A guild? A real guild? One of those elite fighting forces that conquered dragons, and slew deamons? Of course I would join!
From that point on, I was travelling constantly. Exploring, training, fighting warped beasts of evil. It was a good life, but I knew i wasn't doing what i could really push myself to do. Since then, I have become a master warrior, pushing myself to the peak of my skills. I have learned the Arcane arts, to a degree, and can weild a sword at least twice as well as when I was a lumberjack's son in Yew. I reside in Magincia, where my guild meets for conversation and planning. I have recently acquired a home, which I share with my guildmate Promethium Kryxx, and plan to become a Grand Master at my trade. Seek me out traveller, and we shall travel in search of adventure!
